Wooooh! We did it! Final Freeway 2R is out now, ready for download on the iTunes App store! ( ⌒ _ ⌒)┘

It has been a long journey, but we finally got through this. I don’t want to sound as an annoying salesman, but I think this game has something special. If this is not true for you, it will be surely true for me: I’ve never been a racing-gamer guy and I never pixelled or drew cars before. When Davide Pasca from Oyatsukai asked me to work with him, I was quite insecure, because an old-school arcade racing game is a great responsability and I didn’t feel to manage the necessary skills at the time. I forced myself and I challanged my skills, reminding an old post once I read on Pixelation:

“Attempt pixel art beyond your comfort zone. Be ready to face failure, for you will learn from it! Don’t do the same thing over and over again!”

I don’t know if the graphics are good enough for you (please download the game, and drop me a line about what do you think), but I feel something special behind them. And the whole game is special because it reminds me of the old arcade racing games I used to play on coin-ops when I was a kid! From the gameplay, to the feel, the sounds and the (outstanding) musics by Simone Cicconi everything seems to cooperate to create an involving experience.

Won’t say I’m pleased with myself (I’m never (≧ω≦) ), but I’m surely satisfied with what Final Freeway 2R is. So share the love and try the game.

Right now, as I said before, you can find it only on the iTunes App store, but ASAP there will be also an Android version. Also I’ll probably fetch a few graphics in my portfolio, so that you can take a look at the spriting work behind the game… So… just stay tuned!

P.S.: thanks all who helped, reviewd, tested and supported the game during the development, showing how indie games are not just “little games on expensive toys”! You’re the best! ＼(^-^)／

First of all I want to thank all the backrs that are supporting FinalFreeway2R on AppBackr; if you want to give us support too just follow the link above, and you’ll find all the infos about the project with images and a video showing the latest features added to the game. Keep this title under your radar, because it will be ready soon. (｀・ω・´)

In the second place I had a few productive days (and nights) last week and the possibility to pixel some stuff on Livestream. Thanks to all the guys that stopped by to chat and that shared the session with their friends: I hope you enjoy the result, because it is dedicated to you.

Talking about productive days I also had the time to create a little background pattern for your smartphones. If you’re curious, even just a bit, you can take a look at the free download section of this page: WORD!

That’s all for now folks! (≧ω≦)

I got really surprised when I found that someone was interested in my first attempt at C64 widepixels art. Sander, a C64 Scene Database member, recently asked me to create a C64 compatible version of “Driving Lessons”, a piece that I created a couple of months ago just for fun. Well… I couldn’t refuse such an outstanding proposal because the idea of having an executable that can fit the real thing with one of my graphics is definitely sweet. Of course I had to make some changes to the original piece, because it was not built on the main restrictions of the original Commodore64; the result is different, but I like this new crunchy version too.

I want to thank Sander for giving me the possibility to create something with new tools and for arranging the the final rom. I hope you like this little experiment/collab. You can download the rom by clicking on the image below. To run the file you should know how to build it on your Commodore; it may be tricky, but I’m sure that people around C64 Scene Database will be happy to help you. Alternatively you can use an emulator on your computer… yeah simple as that! (>_<)

And now for something completely different: apps!

Yeah apps. Recently I have been working on several projects but right now I want to focus on just two of them.

First of all, my friend coder Piero and me are back on the iTunes App Store with BitBuddies. I know you noticed something odd going on with this indie app, but we solved most of the issues and we came back with a couple of new features and a new free version of BitBuddies that replaces BitBuddies Lite; I’m talking about BitBuddies Mini. Now you can find almost all the components I’ve designed for the app, with full export and editing options. There are some adv boxes but you definitely won’t find them intrusive. Unfortunately BitBuddies Lite won’t be updated anymore, so in order to access further features, you’ll need to download the BitBuddies Mini app.

On the contrary the full version of BitBuddies won’t require a new download. It’s still adv free and we added some new features and a new component type (the back layer) with backpacks, wings and flaming aureas. A lot of stuff for sure, and all of this for a little amount of money, as we decreased the price for downloading it. Yeah… That’s how much we love you! ＼(^-^)／

That’s all for now about BitBuddies. If you like the app please support us by downloading and giving us feedback.

And I ask you to support indie development also because of what I’m about to tell you.

On the iTunes App Store you can find an amazing game called Final Freeway that has been featured on the store for a very long period last year, scoring a really huge amount of good consent. It’s a racing arcade game and you can literally spend hours of your life on that without getting bored. However developer Oyatsukai thought that it wasn’t enough and decided to create a sequel for that… and it is going to be retro. I’m working on the entire graphics for this sequel and right now we are hitting a lot of develpment checkpoints. Final Freeway 2R (that’s the title of the new game) is going to style a full pixel art graphics with animations, tons of editing options, a pool of three characters from which to choose your driver and lots of more game mechanincs. Beta testers are giving a lot of positive feedback and we are still halfway through development. I’m definitely excited by this new incoming title.

Of course we need time and we need your support too. At the moment you can find a sneak peek of the work in progress on App Backrs. You can support us by funding the game (of course you will gain money if you do that) or spreading the word about it. Don’t let indie developers down: we always work for gamers.（＾ω＾）

I talk too much and this blogpost is endless! (^○^)　I’m a chatterbox, now I know!
